Can I see the rugs in person?

There are several ways to see rugs in person. Our full collection is available to view at our studio in London Fields which is open on appointment. You can book a showroom visit here.

We also offer home or site visits within Greater London. If you’d like us to bring a curated selection for you to view in your space please get in touch to enquire about availability.

Customers outside London can also get in touch to request a visit, these are subject to routes and availability and a deposit may be required. If a visit isn’t possible within your area, we offer free online or phone consultations and simple returns so you can order with confidence. You can find more on our home visit and consultation services here.

How often do you get new stock?

We can never predict what we will find and when, however we’re constantly searching for beautiful pieces to add to our collections and we release new rugs at least once a month. Our mailing list subscribers receive early access to all new arrivals before they go live on the website. Sign up here or follow us on Instagram to see new pieces
as they arrive.

Do you offer a sourcing service?

Although we receive daily sourcing enquiries we don’t currently run an official sourcing service. As each antique or vintage rug is truly unique and one of a kind, they’re not pieces that are readily available
or that can be replicated. Once a rug is gone, we might never find another like
it.

Although we can’t offer guaranteed sourcing to bespoke requirements, if you’re looking for something specific in colour, style or
size, do get in touch or book a consultation and we’ll always try our
best to help.

We also highly recommend joining our mailing list for first access to new stock as it comes in.

Can you source a rug I like in a different size?

As our rugs are handmade vintage or
antique pieces, the sizes produced at the time were limited and defined by the
sizes of the looms available and the needs of the particular tribes or weavers.

Many tribal and nomadic rugs were woven on smaller looms, because
they were produced for personal use by nomadic tribes and needed to be
transported from place to place on their travels by hand or animals.

Rugs woven in the cities or towns such as Heriz or Mahal rugs were produced in much larger sizes thanks to the practicalities of working with larger looms and the demand for these rugs in larger properties or palaces.

These unique one off pieces are like needles in haystacks and no two are exactly the same, so it’s unfortunately not always possible for us to source to very specific smaller or larger sizes. However if you’re looking for something in particular, do get in touch or book a consultation as we're always happy to help.

Where do you source your rugs?

Our rugs and carpets are sourced through our international network of expert and trusted dealers, built up over years. We travel all over the world seeking out the most beautiful and unique pieces and are also sent pieces daily by our longstanding suppliers.

Please get in touch if you have any questions about the right underlay for your floors or would be interested in our installation service.

How should I care for my rug?

These pieces have already been cherished for generations and with the right care they will last for many more. We recommend the following tips to ensure the longevity of your rug.

  • Shake out your rug every few months and
rotate occasionally to ensure even wear and light exposure.
  • We advise using underlay to provide support,
    prevent slipping and extend longevity.
  • Vacuum gently using low suction, avoiding brush bars and in the direction of pile where possible.
  • Attend to simple spills and stains immediately, by blotting gently with water and a mild or natural dish soap or rug detergent.
  • For deep cleans and more complex stains, we recommend professional cleaning by an antique and handmade rug cleaning specialist, only when needed or approximately once every five years.
  • Your rug has been professionally cleaned and moth protected, but we recommend topping up moth protection yearly using a
    spray.

Can I use these rugs in kitchens and bathrooms?

Yes — all of our rugs are made from natural wool or wool and cotton.

Wool is naturally resilient and contains
lanolin, a natural water and stain repellent.

I have pets and children — will a vintage rug work for me?

Vintage and antique rugs are an excellent choice for family homes. They are made from durable natural fibres and have already stood the test of time. Their patterns and depth of colour also disguise everyday marks far better than flat, modern rugs.

They’re made to be lived with. Their natural fibres, dense construction and layered patina mean they age gracefully and conceal signs of wear far better than flat,
machine-made alternatives.

Are the photographs true to colour?

We try to give as accurate a portrayal as possible of our rugs. Our product images are taken in bright, natural daylight and colours are not artificially edited.

That said, colours may appear slightly different depending on screen settings, variation in screen displays and lighting in your home. If you’d like additional photos or videos of a particular rug, do get in touch and we’ll be happy to supply.
