Melissa is a vintage Anatolian Hakkari kilim with a Senneh design. Handwoven on village and nomadic looms in vivid, naturally dyed colours, Turkish kilim weaving is a tradition stretching back thousands of years. Kilims were woven for the practicalities of daily life and used as floor and wall coverings, storage bags, and prayer mats. Melissa features a soft pink field scattered with the classic Anatolian fertility motif, set within a soft purple border depicting the eye motif, traditionally used to protect from harm.
Although we ensure that all rugs arrive professionally cleaned and in their best condition, due to the nature of antique and handmade rugs, some irregularities and signs of wear are to be expected.
